Details
Located at 800 meters high above the hills of Verbania, with views of Lake Maggiore, the villa has been built in 1830 by a misterious indian Maraja, who used it as a retreat on hot summer days during his stay at the lake. An original turkish bath made of marble, stucco and mosaic enamels is still visible in the dense forest of conifers. In 1926 the villa was renovated by the architect Piero Portaluppi, that impressed an influential neo-classical style to the previous summer house of rural flavor, expanding spaces with rich marble columns and large windows. You can also visit the chalet inside the park, home of the writer Tom Antongini, the personal secretary of the poet Gabriele d’Annunzio.
