Details

The dwelling was built around the 17th century and was given, through the notary Antonio Negro born on 18 February 1678, by Aurelia De Giorni, widow Colosso, to her son Tommaso, Baron of Arigliano. In the contract the dwelling is indicated with the term “castrum” (castle), although it is a palace. In 1806 the Colosso family moved to Tricase and started selling their own properties. The family bought the building and was functioned for a brief period of time as a “tobacco store”.The complex building, disused for several years, was completely renovated in 2009 by the present proprietors. The structural intervention, which determined the definite structure of the asset, was preceded by a series of preliminary information enquiries, such as historical research, surveys of metres, tests of walls, of structures and plasters. All these researches, essential to provide guidance time by time to the choices made, were closely examined even more during the construction. The building is made of a complex of rooms rather homogenous due to their planimetrical and altimetric shape as well as for their destination. It also has two large basements with a 600m2-working area. It is a two-storey building. On the ground floor there is a “courtyard” entrance with barrel vaults bearing their original shape from the 17th century. Inside there is a library with a wall fireplace, 3 bedrooms, a dining room, 3 bathrooms, a laundry and kitchen with chimney. The first floor, instead, has 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, kitchen and a 120m2-living room, white-wood ceiling, panoramic terrace on the same level and swimming pool. The division of these finely furnished rooms has been created so as to offer different autonomous small flats but functionally joined to one another.
