Details
The Villa is set within extensive park grounds which stretch for more than 12,000 square meters sloping gently towards Lake Maggiore and the grounds benefit from an unrivalled view over the water, the Borromean Islands and the Alps. The property’s grounds, extending in close proximity to the small, ancient Roman church San Defendente (Xth century) include the main villa, built in 1949, set in a dominating position overlooking the lake, as well as the dock/harbour and the outbuildings/annex for guests which were built during the 1960’s. Built and inspired by the project of the current owner’s grandfather, the house’s architectural style takes inspiration from the typical country style of the surrounding houses, but made more similar to a stately home by the combination of influences from Venetian Villas, characterized by the concept of a fusion between a place of pleasure and leisure and a farm where the main façade is the one which opens up onto the panorama and not the one which provides access to the villa itself. The same façade provides a longitudinal axis between the two façades between the entrance and the countryside or in this case the lake. The garden is developed following the concept of an english style garden and is visibily enhanced in its beauty by the addition of numerous different trees which have grown to magnificent proportions during the past years.
The Villa offers access to extensive park land overlooking Lake Maggiore, an ample pavilion which can hold a capacity of up to 150 people (seated), a second summerhouse perfectly integrated within the garden’s vegetation and greenery making it a perfect setting for aperitifs and after dinner events. The property hosts a number of corners and enchanting settings: the tiny secret gardens, the villas’ terraces and the arbour/pavilion overlooking the lake. It can also be reached from the lake thanks to two docking places on the water. The Villa is connected to the piedmont side of the lake which can be reached, at one’s request, by means of a taxi boat service.
