Details
The inside of the present Palace has a series of building stratifications which date back to the late Middle Ages. Some parts of Renassaince frescoes, which came out during the last restoration, are referable to Ligozzi’s studio (XVI and XVII centuries). The area, inherited by the Maffeis in the first years of the Seventeenth Century, was widened through the acquisition of neighbouring buildings, which were given spacial unity at the end of the Eighteenth Century, through the realization of the monumental facade on the first courtyard, of the solemn entrance-hall with Ionic columns and of the majestic, pincer-shaped staircase; elements which are still present today. The recent restructure has brought back to its original fascination the wide halls, which are now used for entertainment events, congress, gala dinners and fashion parades. There are several opportunities both using the eighteenth-century entrance-hall with columns (100 square metre) and the romantic garden (1200 square metre). The central hall and the four side halls are decorated with antique paintings and furniture. The Garden is an unexpected and astonishing spot in the historic centre of the town. It was realized in the middle of the nineteenth-century Romanticism on the banks of the river Adigetto and still maintains its original features: there are still nowadays ultracentenarian trees, the grotto, the berceau and several finds of past centuries. The Palace is located in the historic centre of Verona in a strategical position, in front of Castelvecchio and within five minutes walking distance from Piazza Bra and the Arena. An elegant location for unforgettable events.
